Voting Dates & Deadlines

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some voter-access information has changed. Under Governor Northam's leadership, the Commonwealth has created a new Voter Information Website containing up-to-date information to help you:

NO DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY ELECTIONS IN FALLS CHURCH CITY

US Senate, Statewide Election: Mark R. Warner. Senator Warner is running unopposed, so there is no need to hold a primary election for this office.

U.S. House of Representatives, Virginia's 8th Congressional District: Don Beyer. Congressman Beyer does not have a democratic challenger, so there will be no primary election in Falls Church City.

PRIMARY ELECTIONS ELSEWHERE IN VIRGINIA

There are, however, some communities in Virginia holding primary elections. (View complete list of congressional election candidates in Virginia).

The deadline to register to vote in a Virginia primary election or to update an existing registration, is Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Your request must be received by your own Registrar by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 23.

The election will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

GENERAL ELECTION

The General Election will be heldĀ on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, from 6:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On the 2020 ballot in Falls Church City will be Democratic candidates for:

  • President of the United States - Joe Biden
  • The U.S. Senate - Mark Warner
  • The U.S. House of Representatives - Don Beyer

The deadline to Register to Vote or to Update an Existing Registration is Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

The deadline to request an Absentee Ballot from the Falls Church Registrar of Voters is Tuesday, October 27, 2020, by 5:00 p.m.

You may also request an Absentee Ballot by appearing in person by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020.
